Job overviewOeiras International School (OIS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Lab Technician to provide technical and operational support to the Science Department from 21 August 2026. Role OverviewThe role is essential to the effective delivery of practical science lessons, ensuring that laboratory activities are safe, well‑prepared and aligned with the IB curriculum. The Lab Technician contributes to creating a safe, engaging and well‑resourced learning environment that supports both teaching staff and students. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare materials, equipment and chemical solutions for practical lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Set up and dismantle laboratory apparatus before and after experiments. Support teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring correct use of equipment and compliance with safety procedures. Ensure laboratories meet health and safety standards, maintaining chemical inventories, safety data sheets and risk assessments. Carry out regular safety checks and report hazards or equipment malfunctions. Manage laboratory stock, monitor usage levels and coordinate ordering of supplies and equipment. Maintain accurate inventory and budget‑related records. Clean, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting minor technical issues when required. Support the use of digital tools and data‑logging equipment in science experiments. Assist with teaching materials, laboratory displays, science events and extracurricular activities.
