The primary purpose of this role is to support the day-to-day operation of the Orange Tree Restaurant and the wider Hospitality and Catering Department. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of services while maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times.
Working as part of a collaborative team, the role contributes to delivering a high-quality dining experience for customers and supporting the department’s operational objectives. The postholder will help ensure that all areas meet relevant health, safety, and hygiene requirements, creating a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
To maintain the Orange Tree restaurant and two kitchens to an exceptional hygiene standard, remove all waste from both kitchens and restaurant and liaise with Site Services for hygiene and waste disposal etc. Have an awareness of EHO standards and requirements.
Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene across all kitchen areas, including fridges, ovens, and food preparation spaces.
Identify any issues relating to equipment maintenance and notify the relevant department, adhering to Telford College health and safety policies. Ensure sufficient stock of PPE. Ensure a copy of the food handling/safety certificate is available and on-site risk assessment are up to date within the restaurant.
Maintain laundry provision including the rotation of tea towels, over gloves, dish cloths and student uniforms and managing restaurant laundry when required.
Liaise with staff to discuss day to day operations and implement requests, accordingly, assisting the team where needed in a proactive manner.
Work collaboratively with the Restaurant Co-Ordinator to ensure high standards of service and professionalism are maintained in the Orange Tree.
