About this role
Notes:
This is a Middle School Japanese teaching position, however it would also be possible to join the Elementary School if that was your area of expertise.
The position as a maternity cover runs from August 2026-July 2027.
MS Japanese: Teachers of Japanese in the Middle School must have a love for students of this age and the Japanese language. They must actively engage students in their Japanese language development, including reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as Japanese culture. The position involves teaching both native and second language learners. The native classes follow the Nishimachi-modified Monbukagaku-sho curriculum whilst other classes use a spiralled curriculum that has been developed to meet the needs of the Nishimachi community. Teaching these classes requires flexibility, classroom management, and structure, which contribute to our strong Japanese program and take into account our international school setting that serves a diverse range of heritage language speakers. A willingness to teach Japanese Social Studies is also a requirement of this position. This course involves a study of Japanese geography and history throughout the ages, culminating in current issues.
We have a great team of 13 Japanese teachers who will support you when you join us.
