Role Overview
The Secondary Inclusion Learning Assistant provides academic, social, and emotional support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALNs) in Grades 6-12. They work under the guidance of the Secondary Inclusion Teachers to assist students in in-class learning and pull-out targeted interventions. They ensure that students can access the curriculum and develop essential skills. The role involves collaboration with Inclusion Teachers, therapists, and Individual Assistants. The Inclusion Learning Assistant supports differentiation, accommodations, modifications, and the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support to ensure that students with ALNs can fully engage with lesson content and classroom activities.
- Lead pull-out targeted interventions that address individual learning needs and reinforce skills in literacy, numeracy, executive functioning, and social-emotional
development.
- Assist in modifying instructional materials and assessments to align with student learning needs and abilities.
- Reinforce lesson objectives by scaffolding learning tasks and implementing accommodations as directed by the Inclusion Teachers.
