About this role
Position OverviewThe IB History Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, inquiry-driven instruction in IB History for grades 9–12, spanning the MYP (Years 4–5) and DP. The teacher guides students through a conceptually-driven exploration of the past emphasizing multiple perspectives, historical thinking, and international-mindedness, while developing the analytical and research skills essential for success in internal assessments, the extended essay, and final examinations.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum Delivery
· Plan and deliver IB History lessons aligned with DP and MYP curriculum goals, including prescribed subjects, world history topics, and regional depth studies.
· Design inquiry-based instruction that develops historical thinking, source analysis, and essay writing skills.
· Differentiate instruction for varied reading levels and analytical abilities while maintaining high standards.
Assessment & Student Development
· Develop formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria (historical investigations, DBQs, essay-based exams, oral presentations).
· Monitor student progress and provide timely, actionable feedback.
Enrichment & Co-Curricular Support
· Encourage intellectual curiosity and international-mindedness through structured research projects and academic challenges.
Collaboration & Professional Duties
· Collaborate with IB leadership, DP/MYP coordinators, counselors, Chinese and foreign colleagues, homeroom teachers, and parents.
· Maintain accurate records; attend meetings, school events, and professional development aligned with IB philosophy.
Qualifications· Education: Bachelor‘s degree or higher majoring in History or a related field.
· Teaching Certification: Valid teaching license or certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, state credential, or equivalent).
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary history teaching experience; senior high school experience preferred.
· Curriculum Expertise: Experience in i
