We are currently seeking a Head of Department (HOD) for English & Languages to lead our English and Literature department at the High/Secondary School level. This leadership role requires an experienced educator who can inspire students and staff while maintaining high standards of teaching and learning. Position: Head of Department – English & Languages Location: International School Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea Education Stage: High/Secondary School Curriculum: UK-IGCSE Key Responsibilities: - Lead, manage, and develop the English & Literature department. - Plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum aligned with UK-IGCSE standards. - Support teachers through mentoring, professional development, and performance management. - Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement. - Collaborate with school leadership to contribute to whole-school initiatives. Skills and Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant field (minimum requirement). - At least 5 years of teaching experience in secondary education. - Strong knowledge of the UK IGCSE curriculum for English & Literature. - Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams or departments. - Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to motivate students and staff towards achieving academic goals.
