Coal Clough Academy seek to appoint a Tutor to provide high-quality learning support and tutoring to pupils, including delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions, supporting teaching and learning, and supervising classes during teacher absence. The role includes working with students both onsite and offsite, ensuring access to education and maintaining strong pastoral and safeguarding standards.
What does this job do?
To provide high-quality learning support and tutoring to pupils, including delivering small group and 1-1 interventions for students struggling to access curriculum in the main body of school. Sessions may take place at on-site or off-site in homes or social spaces e.g. local library.
To support KS3 and KS4 pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by developing their communication skills, supporting them to manage their behaviour, developing independence and social skills and to take responsibility for monitoring/reporting on the impact of class-based interventions.
To provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in all non-lesson-based activities.
Complement the professional work of the schoolteachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities
What are the job requirements?
Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals or small groups of students in line with the current whole school curriculum.
Have a good understanding core subject at KS3 and KS4 levels (functional skills and GCSE).
Monitor pupils and assess, record and report on pupils' achievement, progress and development to Middle Leaders, the SENCo and parents/carers.
Accurately document progress relating to attainment, targets and attendance through completion of Personalised Intervention Plans (PIPs) and in line with school procedures.
Support the development of pupils’ reading and literacy skills.
Have a good understanding of SEND needs and strategies to support pupil’s learning.
