Job Title: High School Assistant Principal—Thomas School(China)
Scope and Responsibilities
The Assistant Principal is an important member of the HS Leadership Team. The Assistant Principal is responsible directly to the HS Principal and is expected to help further the development of the curricular, academic, and professional growth of students and staff.
The Assistant Principal holds management and support responsibilities in several areas. This includes, but is not limited to:
Leadership and Professional Development
Manage teaching and instruction operations areas as directed by the Principal
Serve as member of the High School Leadership Team
Assist campus Principals in K-12 curriculum and liaise between PS, MS, and HS administration regarding scheduling/timetabling, and vertical alignment of curriculum
Lead and assist division Principal with staff meetings and development of agendas and priorities and assist Principal with staff professional development, particularly with cross-cultural training and understanding
Personnel and Supervision
Supervise and/or evaluate teaching staff as directed and appropriate
Provide feedback to Principal for staff assessment and evaluation
Advise and track professional development for international teaching staff
Program Support and School Advocacy
Assist Principal and Leadership Team in program evaluation of high school and obtaining data as requested
Assist in coordinating student and faculty policies and procedures in the HS division and campus-wide and make recommendations when appropriate
Assist Principal and Leadership Team in planning and coordination of Commencement/Graduation exercises
Represent the school as requested in events including reception/marketing events/Open day, etc
Teaching and Cover
Teach certain amount of periods;
Cover class when needed.
