About this role

We are a vibrant, welcoming and proudly diverse three-form-entry primary school at the heart of our community. Our children bring languages, cultures and experiences from across the world. They deserve an exceptional education—and a Headteacher with the ambition, integrity and strategic capability to secure it.

Glebe has changed significantly over the past two years. Standards, culture, safeguarding, inclusion, teaching and leadership have all strengthened. Our July 2026 inspection found the school to be making good progress in all areas, and outcomes were above national figures in KS1 and KS2 statutory assessments.

The foundations are secure.
The opportunity now is to sustain what is working and lead Glebe confidently into its next chapter.

The opportunity—and the challenge

Our ambition is clear: to embed stronger standards consistently for every child and across every area of school life, with exceptional practice as our long-term goal.

We are equally transparent about the challenge. Historical financial pressures, alongside the London-wide issue of falling pupil numbers, require decisive and highly effective strategic leadership. Our next Headteacher must be able to protect educational quality while delivering sustainable financial and operational improvement.

This is a role for a leader who can hold ambition and realism together: someone who can make thoughtful decisions, bring people with them and ensure that resources, staffing and structures are aligned around what matters most—our glorious Glebe children.

We are looking for an inspirational and accomplished Headteacher who will:

  • keep children’s learning, safety and wellbeing at the centre of every decision;

  • sustain strong outcomes while securing greater consistency and ambition across the curriculum;

  • translate our strategic vision into disciplined implementation and measurable impact;

  • lead financial recovery, workforce planning and operational improvement with confidence;

  • champion inclusion and secure high expectations for every child, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those learning English as an additional language;

  • nurture, challenge and develop a committed staff team;

  • celebrate our diversity and build trusted relationships with families and the wider community; and

  • work openly and effectively with governors, Harrow Council and local partners.

In return, you will lead wonderful children, committed staff and a community that cares deeply about its school. You will inherit a stronger platform, a clear strategic direction and a governing body ready to provide both support and constructive challenge.

This is not a school seeking someone to begin again. It is a school seeking an exceptional leader to protect the progress made, confront the challenges honestly and build a sustainable legacy for every child and the community we serve.

If you combine educational ambition with strategic and operational grip—and believe that children should remain the heartbeat of every decision—we would be delighted to hear from you.

Visits are warmly encouraged. To join a planned tour for prospective candidates with a member of SLT and the governors, or have a confidential conversation with the Chair of Governors, please contact jobs@glebeschool.org
