About this role
Heads of Year hold key positions within the pastoral system at our Academy. We believe it is extremely important to ensure our students are supported pastorally as well as academically. We believe that a good education depends crucially on the relationships between staff, students and parents/carers.
Our Heads of Year, have the time to really get to know students and their families and build those important relationships. The Heads of Year articulate the Academy's vision to develop citizens who ASPIRE: Ambitious, Self-Confident, Physically Literate, Independent Learners, Resilient and Emotionally Literate. The role can be a Teaching role (50% timetable) or it can be Non-Teaching.
The key indicator of success in this role is to secure the highest levels of achievement possible for students through challenge and support. You must be passionate about wanting to make a difference for the students in our care.
The Academy has an excellent reputation within the local community with strong support from Governors, Parents, Students and a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff.
Teaching and learning is high on the agenda at The Bourne Academy and staff are actively encouraged to constantly develop, experiment and reflect on their practice. Access to high quality in-house CPD as well as the opportunity to gain a bursary towards further studies is available. We welcome students of all abilities and from all backgrounds. We are an Academy in the heart of the community and so we take the time to get to know and understand each student, supporting them to do their very best.
