About this role
Malvern College Tokyo is excited to announce an opportunity for talented, enthusiastic, and energetic individuals to join our team starting in January 2027.
The Head of Visual Art and Design at Malvern College Tokyo plays a pivotal role in leading Visual Art and Design, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the school. This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for shaping the vision and direction of Visual Art and Design, ensuring that pupils develop as creative, thoughtful, skilled and reflective artists and designers whilst making outstanding progress throughout the curriculum.
The Head of Visual Art and Design will collaborate closely with leaders and teachers across the College to ensure that pupils experience ambitious, coherent and inspiring learning within both disciplines. Whilst recognising Visual Art and Design as distinct subjects with their own disciplinary knowledge, creative processes and pedagogical approaches, the postholder will actively seek meaningful opportunities for one discipline to enrich the other, enabling pupils to develop increasingly sophisticated creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
The role requires a strategic and data-informed approach to curriculum leadership, with responsibility for continuously evaluating pupil progress and using evidence to refine curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment. The Head of Visual Art and Design will work collaboratively across departments to develop authentic interdisciplinary learning opportunities, helping pupils make meaningful connections between creativity, design, science, technology, mathematics, and other curriculum areas.
This role comes with teaching responsibilities in the IBDP, in addition to the role of The Visual Art and Design. For details of the position, please refer to the attached Job Description.
