About this role
Inspire the next generation of Historians at the school where it all began with Newton.
The King's School, Grantham, is seeking a Head of Department for History to join our thriving department.
Founded in 1528, King's is a selective Grammar School with a proud tradition of academic excellence. Sir Isaac Newton is our most famous alumnus, but every great scientist has a story, and it is historians who tell it. At King's, History is a subject that matters.
This is a department where students genuinely engage with the past. 20 students out of our Year 12 cohort choose to study History at A level each year, and our students consistently achieve exceptional results. They are motivated, intellectually curious and relish the kind of analytical challenge that History demands. For a History teacher, that is a rare and rewarding combination.
What matters most is a genuine passion for History and the ability to bring the subject to life in the classroom. This role is well suited to an accomplished teacher seeking a department that matches their ambition, offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute, develop professionally, and make a lasting impact.
You will benefit from well-resourced classrooms, including an interactive teaching surface and air-conditioned classrooms.
A comprehensive induction and CPD programme will be tailored to your career stage, and the school has a strong track record of developing and promoting its staff.
