Head of Science Start: 01 September 2026 Contract: Fixed Term Contract Salary: Ark Upper Pay Scale + TLR Deadline: 9am on Monday 18 May 2026 Interview Date: Thursday 21 May 2026 About the Role We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational Head of Science to lead a thriving department at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the curriculum, drive excellent outcomes, and develop a team of committed teachers. As Head of Science, you will combine outstanding classroom practice with strong leadership, ensuring high-quality teaching, a rigorous and engaging curriculum, and a culture of high expectations where all students can succeed. What You’ll Be Doing Lead and develop the Science department, driving standards, achievement and progress Line manage and coach staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement Design and deliver an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum across KS3–KS4 (KS5 where applicable) Use data effectively to monitor progress, close gaps and raise attainment Model excellent teaching and support colleagues to deliver consistently strong lessons Contribute to whole-school priorities and play a key role in academy improvement What We’re Looking For A highly effective Science teacher with a strong track record of outcomes Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a senior middle leadership role Ability to inspire, motivate and hold others to account Strong curriculum, assessment and data analysis knowledge Commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all students Alignment with Ark’s values and mission Why Join Us At Ark Evelyn Grace Academy, you will join a school on a strong upward trajectory, with a supportive leadership team and a clear commitment to staff development.
