Job Title: Head of Maths 

Actual Annual Salary: £32,916 - £51,048 (M1 to UPS3) + TLR 1B - £12,521 

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time   

Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week 

Provisional Start Date: 4 January 2027

As the Head of Maths, you will lead our department across Key Stages 3 and 4, overseeing the curriculum, teaching, and assessment strategies to ensure high standards of student achievement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and support a team of dedicated teachers. About you: 

You will have: 

• experience of working with children and young people. 
• experience of assimilating information to facilitate the delivery of lesson plans effectively. 
• knowledge and understanding of the curriculum. 
• excellent standard of oral and written communication skills and ability to understand and convey information effectively. 
• good organisational and efficient administration skills. 
• the ability to build effective working relationships with teachers and other academy staff. 
• the skills to participate in class discussions in an informed and sensitive manner.

About Hanham Woods Academy:   

Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary school located within the outskirts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, close to its community and works closely with the families, delivering education to pupils aged 11-16. It is one of the most improved academies in the South West, providing an excellent education to over 800 students.
