Head of Literacy - English/Literature

JOB TITLE: Head of Literacy - English/Literature TEACHERS PAY: Competitive – NMS Main or Upper Payscale + TLR + SEN (if applicable) LINE MANAGER: Assistant Head Teaching, Learning and Curriculum This post will be aligned to the school’s appraisal system, relative to the skills and experience of the member of staff. The post holder will be held accountable through the performance and line management systems to carry out the professional duties as listed. JOB PURPOSE To carry out the professional duties of a department lead and class teacher in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the Headteacher. The subject leader will take lead responsibility for providing leadership and management for English/literacy to secure: High-quality teaching and subject knowledge of staff A coherently planned and sequenced curriculum in English and Literature A cohesive intervention strategy incorporating all aspects of the Literacy Department Improved standards of learning, achievement and enjoyment for all Consistent assessment and accurate teacher judgements within the subject Effective use of resources
