Saint Ronan’s School seeks to appoint an inspirational and well-qualified Head of History from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner and subject leader to lead History across the Prep School. The successful candidate will bring the subject alive through engaging teaching, thoughtful curriculum planning, strong academic leadership and a genuine understanding of the whole child.
History is a lively and important subject here at Saint Ronan’s. We are looking for someone who will inspire curiosity, develop pupils’ confidence in written and spoken communication, and encourage critical thinking about evidence, people, places and events.
The Head of History will be responsible for the leadership, development and day-to-day management of the History Department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, pupil progress and enrichment. The role will include teaching History and, where required, Humanities across the Prep School. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute fully to the wider life of the School, including cover, duties, trips, clubs, events and the co-curricular programme.
We are looking for someone with warmth, energy, kindness, high expectations and the ability to play a full and positive part in the life of a busy independent prep school.
