Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications Closing Date: Currently ongoing About the Role Bethany School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Head of Geography to lead a successful and popular department within our forward-thinking independent school. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher with a passion for Geography to inspire pupils across the full ability range from Year 7 to A Level and to shape the future development of the subject within a supportive and collaborative academic community. The successful candidate will lead the Geography department, oversee teaching and learning from KS3 to A Level, and contribute creatively to curriculum development, including fieldwork and project-based learning. This role also offers the chance to play a full part in the wider life of our busy and vibrant school. Key Responsibilities Lead the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Teach Geography across the school, including GCSE and A Level. Develop and implement innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and fieldwork, particularly at Key Stage 3. Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that inspire and challenge pupils. Use data to promote good progress and outcomes for pupils. Manage departmental resources and administration effectively. Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities and Saturday duties. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people. Requirements A degree in Geography or a related field. A recognised teaching qualification. Experience teaching Geography up to and including A Level. Strong interest in current developments in pedagogy and practice. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Commitment to high standards and a pupil-centred approach. Proficiency in ICT, with experience using Microsoft 365 for Education (desirable). A willingness to contribute to the school’s ethos
