About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role providing expert careers guidance to the senior year pupils at Emanuel School.
As Head of Careers and Employability, your key responsibilities will include leading the planning and delivery of Emanuel School’s annual careers convention and similar events, such as networking events for popular career areas, as well as speaking at after-school events for parents on careers.
You will also be responsible for overseeing the internship programme for sixth form leavers, keeping students up to date with work experience opportunities and managing the psychometric testing and interviewing process for Year 11s.
You will also support tutors with the UCAS process – supervising applications for a group of Y13 pupils, advising on personal statements, editing references and quality control – under the direction of the Director of Higher Education – and will also act as the UCAS supervisor for all Year 14 applicants.
Experience of managing a careers and higher education support service in a school or sixth form environment is essential.
Working at Emanuel
There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims and aspirations.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there’s a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.
We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees’ professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, we offer a healthcare plan via
