About this role

Wells Cathedral School is delighted to be advertising for a Graduate Music and Expressive Arts Assistant to work within the already-assembled team of Graduate Music Assistants. GMAs are advanced performers who provide advice and coaching for our exceptional young musicians, and this role includes assistance with the running of the Music and Expressive Arts departments. We are looking for an accomplished musician who has significant experience with theatrical work or in other expressive arts. The ability to assist with other musical disciplines, such as piano accompaniment, theory or aural is also an asset. Applicants should be prepared to work flexible hours, approximately 44 hours per week, term time plus 1 additional week for INSET (34 weeks per annum). Applications should include a short video (maximum 5 minutes) of a performance on their first instrument (with or without accompaniment) and may also include the submission of other arts-related work of the applicant. Accommodation is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Where this is the case, a charge (£450 per month from September 2026) is made, and this is deducted from the monthly salary. It may be possible to combine the post with a residential post within a boarding house and this can be discussed further at the interview. Contract: Fixed term from September 2026 until July 2027.
