Graduate Assistant- Science

We have an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Assistant to work at the school for the academic year 2026-2027. The position is designed to give a recent Science graduate the opportunity to gain experience of teaching Biology. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist who specialises in the life sciences who is keen to foster an understanding and instil a love of the subject among young people. They will be excited about explaining the many and sometimes complex forces which shape biological behaviour. They will have a sense of mission about biological literacy in an age where many claim to find science in general too difficult or abstract to recognise its value for their own lives. The successful candidate will be an avid ambassador for the subject. Equally, they will appreciate the enormous potential this position will offer in terms of the development of their own communication skills and understanding of interpersonal dynamics in a first-rate educational institution. Whether the candidate goes on to teach as a full-time career or simply treats this as a fascinating experimental foray into education, we can guarantee that the experience will be invaluable. Biology is a very popular and successful A Level subject at Radley, with in excess of 40 boys studying the subject at A Level (OCR). In the lower years every boy is required to take Biology for GCSE (AQA), either separate or combined sciences. The Department is well housed in a modern, light building, and every room has its own computer and projector. There are eight members of staff in the department, most of whom have their own dedicated teaching lab. There is a separate departmental office with desks, computers, a printer/photocopier and kitchen facilities. The department is incredibly fortunate to be supported by three technicians and a well-equipped prep room. There is a ‘Radley Zoo’, a highlight for many a boy in the College…….
