Games Lecturer Department: Digital & Computing Salary: £34,484 - £38,811 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week Reference: REC2492 | Closing Date: Sunday 13th September 2026 The Opportunity Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and industry-focused Lecturer in Games Development to join our Digital & Creative Industries department. This exciting opportunity will see you leading, planning and delivering teaching and learning on our Higher Education Games Design pathway, whilst also contributing to wider Games Development provision across Further Education and Higher Education programmes. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, assessment and learner support, ensuring students develop the creative, technical and professional skills required to progress into higher education, employment and the games industry. Working closely with curriculum teams, employers and industry partners, you will create engaging learning experiences that reflect current industry practice and emerging trends within games design and development. The successful candidate will deliver specialist teaching across a range of areas including games engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity, 2D and 3D design software including Maya, Blender and Adobe Creative Suite, level design, game systems, player experience, game mechanics, prototyping, production pipelines and professional practice. This role offers the opportunity to inspire learners aged 16-18, adult learners and higher education students, supporting them to achieve their ambitions whilst helping to shape and develop an innovative and industry-relevant curriculum.
