About this role
Following a planned retirement, we are seeking a compassionate, organised and proactive First Aid Coordinator to join our thriving school from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a central role in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our pupils aged 2-11. You will be the key point of contact for medical care providing high-quality first aid, maintaining medical records and supporting staff and families with confidence and care. Above all, you will bring a warm smile, a calm presence and a good sense of humour because in a busy prep school, positivity is just as important as plasters.
Key Responsibilities
First Aid Provision
Act as the schools lead First Aider and the primary contact for medical needs.
Assess and treat children suffering minor injuries and illnesses.
Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency procedures where required.
Liaise with parents, carers and emergency services when necessary.
Attend and cover key school events such as sports days and festivals
Organise immunisation programmes across the school and vision screening for Reception pupils
Alert catering staff regarding children with food allergies.
Medication Management
Oversee the storage and dispensing medication and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
Ensure appropriate staff are trained in the use of EpiPens, inhalers and other emergency medication.
Ensure accurate information and relevant medicine is given to staff taking children on trips
Medical Records and Compliance
Maintain accurate and medical records for pupils and staff, using ISAMs where applicable.
Set up, share and review Individual Health Care Plans for pupils
Monitor and record accidents.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety and data protection policies.
Create, share and review Risk Assessments and PEEPs for pupils and staff.
Assist the Senior Leadership Team in reviewing and updating key medical policies.
