About this role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESL/EAL Teacher to join our High School teaching team. This role focuses on delivering the IGCSE English as a Second Language (ESL) programme, helping non-native English-speaking students improve their language proficiency, transition smoothly into the international curriculum, and achieve strong results in their IGCSE examinations.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Instruction: Deliver IGCSE ESL (Cambridge 0510/0511) lessons covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking components, ensuring alignment with the syllabus requirements.
Differentiated Learning: Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students at varying English proficiency levels, providing individualised support to help each student make measurable progress.
Exam Preparation: Guide students through effective exam strategies, provide past paper practice, and offer targeted feedback to enhance their performance in IGCSE ESL assessments.
Assessment & Feedback: Design and administer periodic assessments and mock exams; track student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
Cross-curricular Collaboration: Work alongside subject teachers (e.g., Humanities, Sciences) to provide language support that helps ESL students access academic content across the curriculum.
Parent Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents, providing updates on student progress and areas for development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree or above in English, Linguistics, Education, or a related field; TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or a recognised teaching qualification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of ESL/EAL teaching experience; experience with IGCSE ESL is highly desirable.
Language Proficiency: Native or near-native English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with the Cambridge IGCSE ESL syllabus (0510/0511); a
