Frewen College is a specialist, co-educational independent school dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and co-occurring Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English and Literacy Teacher to join our committed team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to make a meaningful impact by delivering tailored, high-quality teaching to students from Year 7 through to Sixth Form, with a focus on Key Stage 4 literacy development.
The RoleYou will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English and literacy lessons for students with dyslexia
Use multisensory and phonics-based approaches to support reading, spelling, and writing
Provide targeted support through small group and one-to-one interventions
Monitor progress using effective assessment and maintain detailed student records
Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school literacy strategies
Work collaboratively with colleagues, learning support staff, and parents
Play an active role in the pastoral life of the school, including acting as a Form Tutor
You will also be expected to contribute fully to the wider life of a boarding school, including extracurricular and occasional weekend duties.
About YouWe are looking for someone who:
Holds a degree (English or related) and QTS
Has experience teaching English and literacy, ideally in a specialist or inclusive setting
Has knowledge or experience of dyslexia teaching strategies and literacy interventions
Demonstrates strong understanding of phonics and early literacy development
Is skilled at adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs
Brings energy, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education
Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
A qualification in dyslexia or SpLD is highly desirable (or willingness to obtain one).
