About this role
The primary purpose of this role is to design and deliver an engaging English Language and Literature curriculum that not only strengthens students’ analytical and communication skills but also cultivates a deep appreciation for literary expression and critical thinking. The successful candidate will inspire students to read widely, think independently, and express their ideas confidently—skills essential for success in a global, interconnected world. The role also involves offering a weekly debate club, teaching effective debating and public speaking skills and accompanying students to debate competitions in Cyprus and internationally.
General Responsibilities
Plan, teach, and assess English Language and Literature classes.
Understand age-appropriate learning approaches and maintain high expectations for student achievement.
Plan, prepare, and develop English Language and Literature curriculum and lesson plans.
Design and assess student assignments (formative and summative).
Provide meaningful feedback to students, parents, and the school administration.
Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment.
Collaborate actively with the Secondary School team.
Inspire and motivate students to engage deeply with literature and debate.
Plan and create unit plans, teaching materials, and resources aligned with IB standards.
Attend school meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning sessions.
Be prepared to lead extracurricular clubs related to Debating, or English enrichment activities in Primary or Secondary School.
Accompany students on local and international debating competitions
Implement student-centered learning strategies, collaborative learning, and project-based approaches.
IB teaching experience is considered an advantage.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English Literature, English Studies, or a related field.
Teaching qualification.
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a mainstre
