EAL Coordinator

Unity Concord International School is seeking an experienced and dedicated EAL Coordinator to lead and develop our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme within the Elementary division. The successful candidate will provide instructional leadership, oversee student language assessment and placement, support multilingual learners, and work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to ensure all students have equitable access to the curriculum and opportunities for success. This role works closely with the Principal, Admissions Team, EAL teachers, homeroom teachers, Student Support Services, and families to ensure the effective implementation of EAL programmes, strong student outcomes, and alignment with the school’s mission and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Programme Oversight Lead and coordinate the G3-G6 EAL programme, ensuring high-quality language support for multilingual learners. Oversee language proficiency assessments, including WIDA or equivalent assessments, to ensure accurate student placement and support. Collaborate with Admissions to assess incoming students and determine appropriate EAL placement and services. Lead regular EAL team meetings focused on student progress, programme development, and instructional best practices. Monitor student language development and oversee systems for data collection, progress monitoring, and programme documentation. Evaluate EAL referrals and determine appropriate levels of support for students. Collaborate with Reading Interventionists, Counselors, Special Education staff, and classroom teachers to ensure student needs are addressed holistically. Work with EAL and homeroom teachers to review student progress and make recommendations regarding programme entry, continuation, or exit. Model effective language-support strategies through coaching, co-planning, and co-teaching initiatives. Provide professional development and ongoing support to teachers regarding language acquisitio
