Development Manager

The Role: New City College is seeking an experienced Development Manager to play a central role in delivering an ambitious capital development programme across our multi‑campus estate. Working closely with the Group Director and Group Head of Development & Capital Projects, you will oversee projects from early feasibility through design, procurement, construction and completion. This is a highly collaborative role in a complex operational environment, requiring strong project leadership, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality, safe and sustainable learning environments. You will work with consultants, contractors, curriculum teams and operational colleagues to translate strategic estate objectives into successful, transformative projects that enhance teaching, learning and the student experience. Key Responsibilities: Manage the delivery of capital development and estate improvement projects from feasibility through to completion. Coordinate consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective design development, procurement and construction. Manage project budgets, programmes, risks and reporting, ensuring projects meet cost, quality and safety standards. Ensure compliance with planning, building regulations, procurement requirements and health & safety legislation including CDM 2015. Maintain strong communication across campuses and with external partners, ensuring project requirements are understood and delivered. Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, funding submissions, governance papers and reporting. Contribute to wider managerial responsibilities including duty manager rota, enrolment support and exam invigilation.
