About this role
Aylesford School Warwick is seeking to appoint an experienced or Deputy DSL to lead in the responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the primary and secondary phases of the school. As a DSL you will take part in the strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contribute to the assessment of our students.
The DSL will: -
- Manage referrals working with the local authority, channel Disclosure and Barring Service, police, Channel programme, and the LSCB.
- Support staff that make referrals.
- Keep detailed, accurate and secure written internal written records of concerns and referrals.
- Act as a source of support, advice and expertise for staff.
- Keep up to date with training and maintain the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role.
- Raise awareness of the school’s child’s protection policies, ensuring that staff are aware and understand the policy and ensuring full and correct compliance.
- Work with the governing board to ensure the school child protection policy is reviewed
- Model best practice and uphold the principles of confidentiality and data protection at all times
- Hold responsibility for ensuring Children in Care (CiC) and Young Carers are accurately identified, centrally recorded and maintained, and correctly submitted for census purposes, working collaboratively with Heads of Year, the DDSL(s) and the Pastoral Team
