Deputy Headteacher - Pastoral Care & Development

We are seeking an exceptional, inspirational, and resilient leader to provide the strategic oversight needed to raise expectations and consistently embed high standards as we look towards our next Ofsted window in February 2027 and beyond.

As Deputy Headteacher for Pastoral Care, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for the entire Pastoral Care system across the academy. You will lead, inspire, and manage a large pastoral team, providing rigorous strategic and operational oversight to drive high performance standards across this substantial department.

Your primary focus will be ensuring every student feels safe, valued, and that they belong, with a particular focus on how this positive learning culture directly drives and impacts Key Stage 4 outcomes and maximises overall student academic success.

1. Safeguarding & Leadership: Strategic and operational leadership of the core pastoral areas, overseeing the entire Pastoral Team and serving as the Designated Teacher for Looked-After Children (LAC).
2. Behaviour & Attendance: Supporting the attendance and behaviour teams to drive continuous improvements across the school.
3. Transitions: Leading and driving a smooth, seamless transition programme that promotes a sense of belonging for all children joining the academy.
4. Social Inclusion & Alternative Provision: Creating and driving the Social Inclusion agenda, culture, and overseeing the quality of education in all alternative provisions.
5. Staff Wellbeing: Designing and leading impactful initiatives that promote staff wellbeing, contributing to a positive school culture and improved educational outcomes.
6. Collaboration: Working collaboratively with the Academy Leadership Team (ALT) to monitor, review, evaluate, and raise standards across the school.
7. External Stakeholders: Partnering with external agencies, parents, and local primary academies to promote the school's interests, personal development, careers, work experience, and positive post-16 destinations.
