Deputy Head of Department, English (Secondary School)

Pride ISM is seeking an insightful, strategic and supportive Deputy Head of English to join our Secondary School English Department full-time in August 2026. The Deputy Head of English will work closely with the HOD to drive excellence across the department, strengthen curriculum delivery, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Cambridge guidelines and school curriculum. This is a key middle leadership role suited to a dynamic educator with strong subject expertise, proven impact in the classroom, and a passion for developing both students and teachers. The successful candidate will have: - A bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant subject; a master’s degree is preferred. - Significant teaching experience. - Previous leadership or management experience, such as a coordinator or lead teacher. - Strong understanding of the Cambridge guidelines and school curriculum as well as strong curriculum development and instructional planning abilities. - Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and support colleagues. - Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate with staff, students and parents. - Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching, learning and departmental administration. - Passion for professional development, with the ability to mentor and train teachers. - A clean background or police check and no question regarding suitability to work with children.
