Cover Supervisor

St Peter's is an extremely successful school and Sixth Form in Guildford. We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Cover Supervisor to join our team, starting in September 2026. The role of the Cover Supervisor is to supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. The work for each class is set by the teacher who is absent, or by the department on his/her behalf. The primary focus is on managing the classroom environment, maintaining good behaviour and keeping pupils on task. You will respond to questions and generally assist pupils to undertake set activities. The Cover Supervisor is not expected to plan, mark work, or set targets or homework. If you were planning to enrol on a Teacher Training Programme next year, this would give you great experience. Your secondary function will be to supervise the Sixth Form study periods which are conducted in silence on a rota basis.
