Cover Supervisor

Contract Type: Part Time Salary: H6 – Point 14-19 Closing Date: Monday 6 July 2026 This is a role for someone who can keep classrooms calm, on-task and learning when teachers are absent — delivering clear instructions, supervising behaviour and adapting tasks across a range of subjects. It will suit an organised, adaptable person who enjoys working with 11–16 year olds and who can step into different lessons at short notice. What you'll be doing Supervise lessons across a wide variety of subjects, following teacher plans and ensuring students engage with set work. Explain and, where necessary, adapt tasks so students can make progress without their usual teacher. Support students to complete work and manage classroom routines in line with school expectations. Record basic lesson information, complete required administration and provide clear feedback to the class teacher after cover lessons. Implement the school behaviour policy and follow up behaviour matters as required, maintaining a calm and focused learning environment. Carry out safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupils' welfare, including health and safety in the classroom. Support wider school duties such as supervising break and form time, and perform reasonable additional duties (for example: Reception cover or other tasks as directed). NOTE: the role includes the school’s programme of duties (three per week). What we're looking for Essential: Experience of working with secondary-age students or leading lessons in a school or similar setting. Confident classroom presence with proven behaviour-for-learning strategies to keep students focused and productive. Good oral and written communication skills and reliable record-keeping of cover lessons. Ability to adapt quickly to changing plans and to work independently when required. Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and willingness to follow school procedures. Excellent attendance and punctuality. Desirable: Degree-
