This is a self-employed engagement under a contract for services.

£30 per hour | Flexible Part-Time

City of Rochester School is seeking to appoint a highly organised and professional Clerk to the Board of Trustees to support the effective governance of our school.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clerk, governance professional, or suitably skilled administrator to play a key role in supporting the strategic leadership of a specialist school. Working closely with the Chair of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team, you will provide advice and administrative support to ensure the Board operates efficiently and fulfils its statutory responsibilities.

The Role

The Clerk to the Board of Trustees is responsible for:

  • Preparing and distributing agendas and meeting papers.
  • Attending Board meetings and taking accurate minutes.
  • Maintaining governance records and statutory information.
  • Advising Trustees on governance procedures and good practice.
  • Monitoring actions arising from meetings.
  • Supporting the organisation of governance activities throughout the academic year.

The Board currently meets approximately six times per year, together with occasional additional meetings as required. The role includes preparation and follow-up work associated with each meeting.

About you:

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Possess outstanding written communication and minute-taking skills.
  • Be able to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Have strong ICT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to manage deadlines and prioritise work effectively.
  • Have governance or clerking experience, or demonstrate the ability to develop quickly within the role.
