About this role

Becontree is a two-form entry, friendly, highly inclusive primary school situated in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. We serve a diverse community and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. We provide high quality education and care for children aged 3 to 11, with our school motto and core value of “Respecting One Another” being central to all aspects of our work. The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a motivated and highly effective teacher to join our hardworking and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children with complex needs, including those with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, in a safe environment that provides high-quality teaching in a culture of challenge, nurture and support. This post would not be suitable for an ECT. We pride ourselves on our high expectations and positive team ethos and welcome applications from passionate, inspirational, reflective and highly effective teachers who have: • a commitment and passion for inclusive education and a sound understanding of Autism; • proven experience of teaching children with special educational needs, including Autism, and delivering a personalised curriculum either in a special school, ARP or mainstream school; • a sound understanding of assessment techniques and an ability to analyse data and plan appropriate courses of action; • knowledge of, and skills in using, specialist communication systems, e.g., PECS, Makaton and strategies to maximise achievement and effectively manage a variety of challenging behaviours; • excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with children, staff, parents and other professionals; • a commitment to their own professional development.
