About this role
We are seeking a full-time, experienced Boarding School House Parent to work in a Boys' house with a diverse range of students. We would also consider a joint application from a couple. There may be a possibility for applicants who are qualified teachers to combine a pastoral role with teaching. You will be enthusiastic about working with young people across the age ranges and will be committed to maintaining a safe, orderly and disciplined environment in which they can thrive. This is a full-time position and weekend and evening working is required. We welcome applications from all nationalities. The school would be willing to support the right candidate in obtaining visas for Non-EU Citizens. You must be fluent in English. Knowledge of French or Spanish and/or another language is an advantage.
Main Duties:
Ensure the safety and security of students and colleagues in the house.
Ensure students’ health and well-being, including tasks relating to their hygiene and personal care, meals, study and recreational activities.
Understand and implement school Child Safeguarding and Anti-Bullying policies.
Manage medical emergencies in the absence of the School Nurse.
Maintain high accessibility and visibility in the Boarding House.
Develop supportive relationships with all students.
Be a listening ear.
Promote and model the school’s Guiding Statements.
Elicit good behaviour and deal with discipline issues according to school policies.
Ensure students uphold the school’s uniform and dress codes.
Ensure students tidy their bedrooms every day and that they treat school property with respect.
Be creative in organising after-school activities.
Collaborate closely with the boarding team including attending meetings.
Work with the Head of Maintenance to identify and rectify any issues within the Boarding House.
