About this role
John Smeaton Academy is seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated colleague to the role of Behaviour Support Worker. This is a pivotal role within our academy and an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers, achieve success and thrive both academically and personally.
At John Smeaton Academy, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to Secure the Gift of Choice. Our Behaviour Support Workers play a vital role in making this vision a reality by building positive relationships with students, promoting high standards of behaviour and providing targeted support to those who need it most.
Working closely with our Behaviour Leaders, pastoral teams and senior leaders, the successful candidate will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them to regulate their behaviour, improve attendance, develop resilience and re-engage positively with school life. You will act as an advocate for young people, delivering bespoke interventions, working alongside families and external agencies, and ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and valued.
This is a varied and rewarding role that requires compassion, resilience and a relentless belief in the potential of every child. No two days are the same. One day you may be mentoring a student to overcome challenges in the classroom, the next you may be leading interventions, supporting with home visits or working alongside families to remove barriers to learning.
