About this role
Angel Meadow School is a new independent SEND secondary school for pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
We specialise in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia and moderate learning difficulties. Our approach is relationship-led, structured and highly personalised, with class sizes capped at five pupils.
As we prepare to open in September 2026, we are seeking a Behaviour, Safeguarding & Pastoral Lead (DSL) to play a key role in establishing our culture, systems and support structures from day one.

The Role
The Behaviour, Safeguarding & Pastoral Lead (DSL) will be responsible for leading safeguarding, behaviour support, attendance and pastoral care across the school.
You will work closely with the Headteacher, SENDCO, teaching staff, families and external agencies to ensure pupils feel safe, supported and able to engage positively with education.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people, building strong relationships and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding (DSL)
Act as the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Lead safeguarding practice in line with statutory guidance and school policies.
Manage safeguarding concerns, referrals and record keeping through CPOMS.
Liaise with Children's Services, Early Help, social workers and other external agencies.
Attend safeguarding, child protection and professional meetings.
Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are implemented consistently across the school.
Promote a strong safeguarding culture and support staff with safeguarding concerns.
Monitor pupil welfare and take appropriate action where concerns
