We’re looking for an enthusiastic Automotive Technician to join our team at Truro & Penwith College. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your practical expertise with a rewarding role supporting students and staff in a busy learning environment.
About the role
As an Automotive Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our workshops running efficiently and safely, ensuring everything is in place for high-quality teaching and learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting students and staff with practical activities in the automotive workshop
Preparing, setting up, and maintaining tools, vehicles, and equipment
Ensuring the workshop environment is safe, clean, and ready for use at all times
Managing stock, equipment, and materials, including ordering and inventory control
Carrying out basic fault finding, testing, and repairs
Supporting small groups of learners to develop practical skills
Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance
About you
You’ll be practical, organised, and approachable, with a genuine interest in helping others succeed.
You will have:
Experience working within the automotive industry
A Level 2 qualification in Automotive Engineering (or similar)
Good understanding of health and safety practices
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
It would be great if you also have:
Experience in an educational or technician role
L2 Risk assessment, Health & Safety and COSHH training, willingness to work toward these and training will be provided
