About this role
The Audio Video Technician will provide high-quality technical and creative support across the Expressive Arts Faculty, including Music, Drama, and Art, ensuring smooth delivery of lessons, rehearsals, performances, events, and whole-school productions. The role involves preparing equipment, maintaining technical systems, supporting staff and students, and enhancing learning experiences through effective use of audio-visual technology.
This is a hands-on, dynamic role requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent organisation, and a passion for supporting creative learning in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Lesson Support
· Prepare and set up AV, lighting, sound, projection, digital equipment and art supplies for Music, Drama, and Art lessons.
· Support teachers with technical requirements for practical lessons in all aspects of Music, Drama and Art, including recordings, showcases, and creative projects.
· Assist students in using technical equipment safely and effectively.
· Provide troubleshooting support during lessons to ensure minimal disruption.
· Support set ups, recording, editing, and playback for performances, compositions, and digital portfolios.
Performance, Production & Event Support
· Set up, operate, and maintain sound, lighting, microphones, projectors, and stage technology for performances, concerts, assemblies, exhibitions, and whole-school events.
· Support rehearsals and live events, including cueing sound and lighting.
· Assist in stage setup, technical rehearsals, and strike-down of equipment.
· Support large-scale productions, faculty showcases, exhibitions and events including technical planning and execution.
· Assist with filming, livestreaming, (and photography) for school events where required.
Equipment, Systems & Maintenance
· Maintain and manage AV equipment, lighting rigs, sound desks, instruments-related tech, and digital hardware.
· Carry out routine checks, fault reporting, and basic repairs.
· Manag
