Nicholas Chamberlaine School is seeking a flexible, resilient, and proactive Attendance Officer to join our busy School Administration team.
Job Description
Main Purpose of the Role
To promote, in conjunction with other key school staff, excellent attendance, reduce levels of absence, and work with children and families to promote high levels of attendance across the school.
To oversee day-to-day attendance marks within the school, actively communicating with parents and carers to ensure all students are accounted for.
To manage individual cases causing concern regarding school attendance, maintaining accurate tracking records of alternative provisions and monitoring the attendance of students who attend these external providers.
To facilitate early identification, investigation, and assessment of school attendance concerns, engaging with a wide range of young people (aged 11-16) and their parents or carers.
To work collaboratively with SLT, Heads of Year, form tutors, external agencies, and to model and promote the values and ethos of the school and Griffin Schools Trust.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Attendance Operations & Tracking
Oversee and manage the day-to-day attendance marks within the school to ensure absolute precision and register integrity.
Maintain direct, proactive communication channels with parents and carers to verify student absences and guarantee all pupils are safely accounted for.
Communicate consistently with external providers to monitor, track, and record the attendance data for students placed in alternative off-site provisions.
Identify, extract, and analyse internal attendance data trends, systematically comparing them against regional and national benchmarks to generate regular diagnostic reports.
Execute structured attendance monitoring interventions for targeted cohorts, including managing phone logs, home visit registers, check-ins, and targeted late policies.
