About this role
The role
We are looking for an Attendance Officer to monitor and improve the attendance and punctuality of students at Brinsworth Academy.
As part of our Pastoral team, you will support the effective day-to-day management of pupil attendance and punctuality, ensuring that accurate and timely systems are in place to promote regular school attendance. Working under the direction of the Attendance Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating attendance records on Bromcom, carrying out first-day absence calls, and following up on unexplained absences to ensure safeguarding procedures are upheld.
You will also play a key role in early intervention and communication with families, helping to identify patterns of absence or lateness and support actions to address them. By providing efficient administrative support, maintaining accurate records, and responding promptly to attendance concerns, you will contribute directly to improving attendance outcomes and ensuring that all students are able to fully access their education.
You will need strong communication skills, along with previous experience of working in a fast-paced, busy environment. You will pair this with knowledge of issues that might present barriers to learning and social inclusion. Excellent interpersonal, organisational and IT skills are also essential for success in this role, along with a discrete and sympathetic approach to dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
