About this role

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and committed Attendance & Student Support Officer to join our academy family. Working with senior leaders, staff members, students and parents to ensure good attendance records are maintained, working with and promoting agreed strategies and analysing data to identify trends, key areas of concern and areas for improvement. Your key duties and responsibilities include: Maintain a focus and overview of students’ attendance in the year group, with a view to continual improvement and high achievement. • Complete first-day response calls, as required, to establish reasons for absence and offer support/supportive challenge to ensure the swift return of pupils. • Instigate the relevant support or referrals to support families in relation to school attendance, including completion of any referral forms and meetings with parents. • Undertake home visits, where relevant, at the direction of the senior leader for attendance or the headteacher. • Complete any relevant calls, correspondence and parental meetings in line with the escalation process/graduated approach for attendance, including attendance action plans and recording these as part of school systems. • Liaise with other members of the attendance team to identify cohorts within the year group who need support or intervention, using data and tracking. • Implement actions to ensure high attendance levels for individual pupils. • Ensure the daily statutory registers for the year group are correct, in line with DfE guidance and safeguarding requirements. • Contribute to, and attend, any relevant in-school multi-disciplinary meetings and/or meetings with other agencies. • Identify and/or deliver support for pupils with emotional, mental health or medical needs that affect attendance; this may include working with parents and professionals. • Meet with identified cohorts during parents’ evening for the year group. • Work collaboratively with the attendance team and leaders to promote
