About this role
High Grange School is an outstanding, specialist independent school for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to lead our Lower School provision (Key Stage 1 & 2), a strategically important area of the school where pupils develop the foundations for communication, regulation and lifelong learning.
This is not a typical Assistant Headteacher role.
Our Lower School is a carefully designed, autism-informed environment where learning is highly personalised, developmentally sequenced and built on strong relationships, structure and consistency. It is a provision where practice is deliberate, reflective and continually evolving.
The opportunity
Lead and shape a growing Primary provision within a specialist setting
Drive an ambitious, sequenced curriculum rooted in communication and independence
Work as part of a highly effective Senior Leadership Team and Multi-Disciplinary Team
Influence whole-school development through a clear, values-driven approach
Lead and develop a committed staff team within a culture of high support and high challenge
We are looking for a leader who:
Has a strong track record in Primary and/or SEND leadership
Is an exceptional classroom practitioner with credibility across a staff team
Has a deep understanding of autism and neurodiversity, or a strong commitment to developing this
Can lead with clarity, consistency and high expectations
Is calm, relational and emotionally intelligent in their approach
Can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational leadership
This is a rare opportunity to take a leading role in shaping a specialist Primary provision where the work is meaningful, the impact is tangible, and the standards are high.
