About the RoleBeaconhouse is seeking an experienced and committed Assistant Head (Pastoral & DSL) to provide whole-school leadership across pastoral care, student wellbeing, positive behaviour, and safeguarding. This senior leadership role combines strategic pastoral leadership with responsibility as the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). The successful candidate will develop a proactive culture of wellbeing, ensure robust child protection practices, and lead effective support and intervention for students across all year groups. Location: School Campus Reports to: School Principal / Heads of School Department: School Administration โ€“ Senior Leadership Key ResponsibilitiesSafeguarding & Child ProtectionAct as the school's lead professional and first point of contact for safeguarding concerns. Lead safeguarding case management, investigations, risk assessments, referrals, and follow-up actions. Ensure timely, proportionate, and child-centred responses to safeguarding concerns. Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and ensure appropriate information sharing. Liaise with relevant external agencies, including JKM and PDRM, in consultation with the Regional Office. Monitor safeguarding trends and provide reports and recommendations to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team. Lead safeguarding policy reviews and promote compliance with Malaysian and international safeguarding standards. Pastoral Care & Student WellbeingLead and develop a comprehensive whole-school pastoral and wellbeing strategy. Promote positive behaviour, restorative practice, emotional resilience, inclusion, and character development. Oversee student welfare cases and ensure appropriate Pastoral Support Plans (PSPs) are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed. Work closely with counsellors, Inclusion/SEN teams, academic leaders, and teachers to provide coordinated support for students.
