About this role
The Modern Foreign Languages department are looking to appoint an inspiring assistant head of languages to join a team who are committed to enabling students to become independent, life-long learners of languages. Hove Park School is located on two sites. The Valley Campus is for years 7, 8 and 6th form. The Nevill Campus is for years 9, 10 and 11.
The pastoral life of the school is very important, so you will have your own tutor group. We operate in Year Teams, but we have Houses that we use for Sports Day and other competitions.
We check progress regularly, so you will be keeping records of students’ learning journeys, which you will share with students, parents and carers.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their willingness to support students of all abilities and to make French and Spanish accessible and fun, with particular emphasis on GCSE and fluency in spoken French and Spanish.

• To ensure that all assessment processes are accurate and credible by using appropriate moderation systems.
• To analyse and evaluate progress data and take swift and appropriate action in response to underachievement.
Developing Teaching and Learning
• To promote regular debate and discussion about the quality of teaching and learning and expectations for students’ achievements, encouraging the sharing and dissemination of good practice within the music team and with other areas.
• To ensure effective development of the use of new technologies in teaching and learning and music.
• To ensure the behaviour management procedures are implemented so that effective learning can take place.
• To ensure that schemes of work are followed.
