The role
Emanuel School is looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to take on a two-term responsibility as Assistant Director of Music (Performance).
You will join a vibrant and ambitious team of specialist teachers who share a deep passion for music, delivering an exciting and aspirational programme of creative opportunities to highly capable pupils across a wide range of musical genres. The department offers an exceptionally rich and dynamic music programme, providing pupils with inspiring opportunities to perform, create and develop as musicians.
In your role as Assistant Director of Music (Performance), you will support the Director of Music in delivering a broad and exciting co-curricular programme. This will involve providing piano accompaniment for performances, competitions and examinations, providing organ / keyboard accompaniment for services, as well as directing vocal and instrumental ensembles to a high standard. You will also assist with the planning of large-scale performances, both in school and at external venues such as Sinfonia Smith Square, the Clapham Grand and XOYO.
In addition to this, you will also deliver stimulating and engaging lessons that challenge and inspire pupils, enabling them to achieve their full potential in music.
The successful candidate will join us as a Teacher of Music on a permanent contract, with a two-term responsibility as Assistant Director of Music (Performance). However, there is strong potential for this added responsibility to become a permanent role.
About you
You will be an accomplished, well-qualified and experienced musician and teacher, with the passion and drive to build on the excellent standards of music at Emanuel, and to strive for the highest levels of academic outcomes and pupil participation in music.
An excellent track record of music teaching in a secondary setting with high academic and musical standards is essential, along with experience of accompanying rehearsals and concert
