Role OverviewThe Secondary Art & Design Curriculum Coordinator will lead curriculum design, instructional practice and assessment for the Secondary Art & Design programme. Working closely with Heads of Department, subject teachers and senior leaders, the coordinator will ensure coherent progression, high standards of teaching and learning, and outstanding student outcomes. The post holder will promote scientific literacy, inquiry, and practical skills while supporting professional development and collaboration across the faculty.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Leadership: Lead the design, review and implementation of the Secondary Art & Design curriculum to ensure alignment with Cambridge International requirements and clear progression between key stages.
Teaching & Learning: Promote exemplary pedagogical practice, inquiry‑based learning and practical investigation across Art & Design. This position will include a teaching requirement of up to 40% of the standard teaching workload (c10-12 hours per week)
Assessment & Reporting: Develop and maintain robust assessment frameworks, moderation processes and reporting practices to monitor student progress and inform teaching.
Staff Development: Plan and deliver targeted professional learning, mentoring and coaching for Art & Design teachers to raise standards and share effective practice.
Resource Management: Oversee the procurement, of learning resources and Art & Design materials; advise on budgetary needs.
Quality Assurance: Implement regular curriculum review cycles, lesson observations and data analysis to support continuous improvement across the faculty.
Cross‑Curricular Collaboration: Work with colleagues in Art & Design, Design & Technology and ICT to develop interdisciplinary projects and promote initiatives.
Student Enrichment: Lead extracurricular Art & Design activities, competitions and enrichment programmes to foster curiosity, participation and student leadership in science.
