Position Overview
We are looking to recruit an Advanced Skills Learning & Literacy Coordinator and Academic Tutor with a specialist background in literacy, library sciences, and digital learning to join our team. Based in the secondary building, this role is dedicated to students aged 15–18 (Years 10–13).
You will work closely with the Head of English and the Head of Library to bridge the gap between school-level study and university independence. This is not a traditional teaching role; it is a specialist support position focused on developing the super-curriculum—academic research, digital literacy, AI competency, and advanced study skills.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Pre-University Academic Literacy & Research Support:
- The Research Hub: Lead the development of a dedicated area for research within The Cloisters, fostering an environment of academic inquiry.
- Academic Writing Support: Deliver one-on-one and small-group interventions to support students with structuring extended essays, dissertations (e.g., EPQ, A-Level coursework), and synthesizing complex texts.
- Advanced Reading Strategies: Teach strategies for deep and critical comprehension of academic journals and subject-specific literature suitable for university preparation.
- Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with Heads of Department to embed research skills into senior schemes of work.
Student Development Programme (Study Skills & Pre-U Competencies):
