Trudi Barrow is a leading voice in design education and AI in education. She is an adviser at CLEAPSS and editor of the Futureminds digital magazine on design and art education. She is recognised for championing creativity, applied learning, sustainability, and the responsible use of AI. In 2022, she received the James Dyson Award for Outstanding D&T Teacher from the Design and Technology Association. She is also a co-author of the DfE’s 2025 training materials on the safe and effective use of AI in education, developed with the Chartered College of Teaching and Chiltern Learning Trust. Trudi sits on several panels and advisory groups and advises government on design education. She is a Canvassador, a member of the Padlet educator group, and co-author of a paper on AI in D&T presented at the PATT41 Conference in Nanjing, China. She has spoken internationally, including at the AIducation ’25 Conference in Bucharest, and has worked with organisations such as AQA, the V&A, the Design Museum, and the National Theatre on curriculum and training initiatives. She delivers professional development and training for trusts and institutions across the UK, including Pioneer Learning Trust, Co-op Academies Trust, Meridian Academies Trust, and the Inspiration Trust. Her insights are shared widely through podcasts, webinars, and events such as Teachers Talk Radio, Ctrl-Alt-Teach, The Tattooed Teacher Podcast, and the Big D&T Meet. She has also written and presented for AI in Education and TES. Trudi is an experienced teacher, head of department, teacher trainer, and former professional theatre designer. She trained at Goldsmiths and RADA.
